These terms cover your use of disctester.org. They are written to be read rather than skipped, so they are short and there is nothing buried in them.
Acceptance
By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. There is nothing to cancel and no account to close, so leaving is simply a matter of closing the tab.
What this test is, and what it is not
The assessment on this site is a free educational tool based on the DISC model described by William Moulton Marston. It is designed for self-reflection, team conversations and general curiosity. It is offered as-is and free of charge.
It is explicitly not any of the following:
- A clinical, diagnostic or psychological assessment of any kind
- A selection, screening or hiring instrument. Do not use it to decide who gets a job
- A commercial DISC instrument. This site is independent and unaffiliated with any DISC publisher
- A substitute for professional advice, medical, legal, psychological or otherwise
No warranty
The site and the assessment are provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the results are accurate for you, that the site will be available without interruption, or that it is free of errors. Self-report questionnaires describe how a person sees themselves on the day they answer, and this one is no exception.
Acceptable use
You are welcome to take the test as often as you like, share your results, and link to any page here. What you may not do:
- Republish the site's text or assessment items as your own, in whole or in substantial part
- Use the test as part of a paid product or service without written permission
- Attempt to disrupt the site, or access it through automated means at a disruptive rate
- Use the site or its results to make employment, medical or legal decisions about another person
Intellectual property
The DISC model itself is in the public domain. Marston's original work dates from 1928 and nobody owns the four dimensions. The specific text on this site, the adjective sets used in the assessment, the scoring approach and the design are our own work and are protected by copyright.
Names of commercial DISC instruments and other assessment products mentioned on this site belong to their respective owners. They are referred to descriptively, for comparison, and no affiliation or endorsement is implied in either direction.
Advertising and third-party links
This site carries advertising served by Google AdSense and contains links to third-party websites. We do not control the content of those ads or those sites, and a link or an advertisement is not an endorsement. Your dealings with any third party are between you and them.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from decisions taken on the basis of your results. This is a free educational tool and it should not be the deciding factor in anything that matters. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Availability and changes to the site
The site is provided free of charge and may change, move or stop being available at any time. Pages may be rewritten, the assessment may be revised, and no guarantee is made that a result you saw once could be reproduced later.
Governing law
disctester.org is operated from Switzerland by Paul Largey, and these terms are governed by Swiss law. Nothing in them removes mandatory consumer protections available to you under the law of your own country of residence.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continuing to use the site after that date means you accept the revised version.
